The Island is home to 180 saltwater people, who welcome guests to experience their impressive seafood cuisine, traditional fishing methods, and to learn island crafts and history. Horn and Thursday Islands

Thursday Island is the most developed island in the Torres Strait Islands group. Located just north of Cape York Peninsula, Australia's most northern point, Thursday Island offers tourists an inviting glimpse into a lovely cultural mosaic. This cultural fusion exists because of the Torres Strait Islands are situated just south of Papua New Guinea and approximately 39 kilometres north of Queensland's coast.
Horn Island, with an area of 53 square kilometres, consists mainly of vacant Crown land. The Aerodrome occupies 6 square kilometres. On the eastern side of the island is a Gold mine, which was in operation until recently.

Lotus Bird Lodge

Lotusbird Lodge is located 480 kilometres north of Cairns, and 28 kilometres east of the Musgrave Roadhouse, on the western boundary of Lakefield National Park in central eastern Cape York.
Lotusbird Lodge Cape York comprises 10 individual pole style cabins set amongst shady eucalypts along the inner bank of a large horseshoe shaped billabong. Lotusbird Lodge was named after the Jacana (Lotusbirds) that inhabit the billabong and while not a dedicated bird watchers lodge, bird watching is one of the major activities of the lodge.

Jowalbinna

Jowalbinna is an inspiring place located 350 kilometres or 5 hours drive north of Cairns. Its amazing rock art, healthy natural environment, fun activities and comfortable accommodation make for a truly memorable Tropical North Queensland experience. Accommodation is tented style cabins in a "bush safari " atmosphere.

Chillagoe

Chillagoe is located 140km west of Mareeba, the limestone caves of Chillagoe are the principle attraction in the area, and have kept people fascinated for many decades. There are no other places in Tropical North Queensland that offer this kind of caving treat. The caves are the remains of coral that was once lived in a sea that covered this in-land area, about 450 million years ago.

Weipa

Weipa is approximately 804km north/west of Cairns and can be reached by the Peninsula Development Road or by QantasLink daily service from Cairns. Weipa a town of approximately 3500 people is the site of the world's largest bauxite mine which is operated by Comalco Mining & Refining. Great fishing can be arranged at Weipa.

Eulo

Eulo is a small town but seems to capture the spirit and atmosphere of Queensland's Outback. Once the bustling main centre for the opal miners, the area was chosen for settlement given its proximity to a good waterhole on the Paroo River. Enjoy a visit to Ian and Nan's Date Wine Farm and then a great "outback sausage" at teh Eulo Queen hotel.

Noccundra

The historic Noccundra Hotel was established in 1882 and is still licensed. This hotel is the only occupied building in the town and is well worth a visit. It is also the site of a memorial to the ill-fated Hume expedition, the explorer having died of thirst west of the present town while searching for survivors of the lost Leichhardt expedition. The aircraft is parked only 50 meters from the hotel.

Boulia

Boulia is located 300 kilometres south of Mount Isa at the junction of the Diamantina and Kennedy Development Roads. The town's fame largely rests with its association to the Min Min Light, a strange spectral light that can appear, hover, disappear and reappear with an eerie will of its own. Most often described as a hovering luminescent ball, the light has teased travellers, never approaching close enough to be clearly examined. Scientists are baffled to explain this phenomenon. Dick Suter , or dinasaur Dick as he is known, will show his amazing collection of bones dug up from around this area. They are displayed in the old Stone House Museum.

Carnarvon Gorge

Carnarvon Gorge is located in the Southern Brigalow Belt bioregion in Central Queensland (Australia), 593 km northwest of Brisbane. Primarily created by water erosion, Carnarvon Gorge is around 30 kilometres long, and six hundred metres deep at the mouth. It is the most visited feature within Carnarvon National Park due to the diversity of experiences it contains and the ease with which it can be accessed.
