Special Events 2008

Temora Air Museum

An interesting aircraft museum for the enthusiast. Make a day of it with some friends and fly to Temora on one of their air display dates. See their web site for particular dates.

Coober Pedy Opal Festival

The world's capital of Opal. At Easter this festival demonstrates opal cutting, mining, and polishing techniques as well as a street parade and food/craft fair. Maybe even try your hand at "noodling".

Kimberley cooking School...Faraway Bay WA

Chris demonstrates preparation of lunch and dinner for the 4 days.  This is combined with other activities, for example whilst out exploring a sight in the morning the group may catch a fish and Chris will incorporate the preparation of that into the next meal.  The cooking school part is as hand on or off as guests wish, and for those less interested they can sit back and enjoy the company, views and good food without getting too involved. Take an air tour from Melbourne direct to Faraway Bay and then return. Make it an adventure for say 6 - 8 clients

Brunette Downs Races...and /or Pungalina Station

A 4 day event at a cracking pace. Camping is near the track. Witness traditional outback bush racing at it's best. Attend the Saturday night ball. Maybe make this the first overnight stop on a 6 day trip to Pungalina Station wilderness safari resort in the Gulf. A six day air tour ex Melbourne allows 3 days at Pungalina. Minimum of 6 passengers.

Marree Camel Cup

The cup celebrates the days when Marree was a staging post for the camel trains that carried wool and supplies to and from remote properties. There are 12 camel races and a country concert. Camp under the stars at the race track or maybe in a pub in town. The flight is about 4 hours from Melbourne and a 2 or 3 day trip would be a great escape from Melbourne's winter.

Yowah Outback Opal Festival

Very remote interesting outback weekend. Fly to Eulo and enjoy there hospitality in the Queen hotel and the Palm Date farm, then drive to Yowah for the festival. Make it a weekend or 3 days as you wish...or include it in your trip to Pungalina Station in the Gulf.

Gympie Music Muster

Held in a state forest 40 kms south Of Gympie, this festival swells to 25000 attendees. There are 12 different venues providing a constant program of country music , blues, bluegrass, bush poetry, talent search , dancing and kid's country music. Camping is on site...catering is provided.

The Birdsville Races

Bathurst 1000

Bathurst 1000Motor-cycle racing is generally believed to have started in Bathurst, NSW in 1911 on the roads around Mount Panorama. Your air tour can be for the weekend or just go up for race day. The 161 laps and 6 hours of fast and furious motor racing is an experience you will never forget.

Man From Snowy River Festival

A weekend of whip cracking, horseriding, bush poetry, akubras and oilskins centered around the town of Corryong,...just 1 hour flying from Melbourne. The festival honours "Banjo's" poem with the Challenge...the ultimate test of all round horsemanship. The festival is one of the few places where you can "see those mountain horseman ride". Also is the Jumbuck Outback Ute muster and an Outback Bush Dance.
