This is a comfortable tented camp for
approximately 10 people maximum . The tents are situated on high wooden
platforms and have two rooms plus an
ensuite. They are very comfortable. The dining room looks out over the bush and
the meals are magnificent.
In the afternoon after lunch we spend time
around the local
area. The salt lakes and rock formations are stunning. After a
magnificent sunset location for drinks, dinner is served in the dining room and
then a "chat" around the campfire. After breakfast in the morning we spend the
day driving 2 hours to the north to visit lake Gairdner. This is a 5000 square
kilometre salt lake in the Gawler Ranges area. The salt is approximately 1 metre
thick and is quite safe to walk on. Bring your sun glasses as the brightness of
the salt and the colours of the surrounding landscape must not be missed. Lunch
is at the Lake then the drive back to Kangaluna is via the picturesque Gawler
Ranges.
In the morning of day 3 ,we drive 1 hour down to Squeaky Bay on the eyre
Peninsula (the aircraft will be relocated there as well) , to go on board a boat
to view and swim with sea lions on Baird Bay. Then we return to Squeaky Bay
airport and depart for Kingscote on Kangaroo Island. We have the afternoon and
the next morning to view the "Remarkable Rocks, Admiralty Arch, kangaroos ,
seals and koalas on the island. The scenery is great and we are taken on a
private tour. Accommodation is at the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat.

4 Days.......Melbourne to Flinders Ranges and Gawler
Ranges
The first leg of the 4 day air tour is 2.3 hours to Broken Hill for fuel then
another 45 minutes onto Balcanoona in the Northern Flinders Ranges. Then we
drive 30 minutes north to Arkaroola Resort. After lunch we go on the 4 wheel
drive famous Ridge Top tour. This is in open air 4wd vehicles and is absolutely
stunning over a severely
rugged
off road track up and down all the ridges in this interesting geological
location. It was the are that Reg Sprigg opened up and had as his mentor Sir
Douglas Mawson. On return to the resort we have time for a drink before dinner
in the restaurant. Then after dinner a visit to the local observatory to view
and learn about the stars. There are 2 observatories here and weather permitting
it is a great way to learn about our night sky.
In the morning we drive back to Balcanoona and fly
approximately 1.3 hours down to Wudinna via the magnificent salt lake of Lake
Gairdner. We are met at Wudinna by Geoff Scholz and then drive 30 minutes across
sandy tracks to the remote bush camp of Kangaluna. See
