Take a short one to three day air tour excursion from Melbourne for that well earned
break. There are many different options depending on what your interests are.

1 day air tours
1 day.............Melbourne to Flinders Island

A great one day air tour that compliments a trip to Phillip Island. Fly 1 hour
to Flinders Island in Bass Straight.Tour the magnificent beaches, enjoy a
seafood lunch at Vista's restaurant overlooking the bay, and then take a scenic
tour of some of the volcanic landscape including Walkers Lookout. See wild
kangaroos and maybe even bring home a crayfish.
1 day.............Melbourne to Echuca & Murray River:
Echuca is only 45minute flight from Melbourne. It is on the Victorian border
and has a proud history of being the main inland trading port for the Murray.
Departing in the morning we arrive in time for a lunch cruise down the Murray
River
1 day...............Melbourne to Millawa Winery for lunch:
A one hour flight from Moorabbin and you land right at the Brown Bros
airstrip , a short walk to the winery. Here we taste the wines in the cellar
room. Located adjacent to the Cellar Door at Milawa, the Epicurean Centre
is a restaurant where you can enjoy sumptuous dishes created to complement the
flavours and complexities of Brown Brothers wines.
Late in the afternoon we return to Moorabbin

1 day.............Fly down the
great Ocean Road to 12 Apostles (Twelve Apostles)
This can be a 3 hour return flight or make it a day trip with lunch at
Warrnambool. Fly out over Port Phillip Bay, down along the coast to Apollo Bay
then onto the 12 Apostles before returning direct to Morrabbin. A spectacular
flight over one of Victoria's greatest tourist attractions
2 day air tours
2 days:...........Melbourne to Lake Eyre and Birdsville
The 2 day tour would depart
Moorabbin airport around 7:30 am and land at William Creek for lunch in the hotel. Then a 1.5
hr drive each way out to the shores of the Lake in the afternoon…hopefully see
the water and view the magnificent salt pan from the sandy shoreline. It
may be difficult to see it from the shoreline but you never never know as it
moves around with the wind. We would overnight at
William
Creek in twin share rooms , then in the
morning fly up the Lake following the Warburton Channel which is where the water
flows through from the Diamantina. Once near
the top we would turn south and fly down the eastern side past the
Cooper Creek ( which is unlikely to make it to the Lake) and over Donald Campbells speed trial area until we
land at Mulloorina Station for lunch.....maybe if time permits a swim in
their creek/thermal spring. In the afternoon fly to Moorabbin over the Flinders
ranges arriving home around 6pm. This trip should give you fantastic views over
the whole of the Lake. click

2 days............Melbourne to Mallacoota:
A flight of 1.5 hrs gets us to the east coast of Victoria and the quaint town
of Mallacoota. After a Chinese type noodle lunch at Lucy's restaurant, take a
half day fishing tour on the protected lakes. Fish for Australian Bass, Bream,
Flathead and view the wilderness area of the lakes. Accommodation would be in
the Hotel/Motel or Karbeethong Lodge. . On the second day try fishing in the
ocean or maybe a boat cruise up the inlet on Porkie Bess to view Sea Eagles and
other birds or maybe another fish as well. The ocean fishing can include scuba
diving for abalone. Return to Melbourne that evening.
2 days ..........Melbourne to Flinders Island:
This is just a short 85 minute
charter flight down to Flinders Island in the middle
of Bass Strait This is a stunning island with volcanic rock, mountains,
unbelievable beaches, fishing, great walks and just a place for a weekend to get
away from it all. Stay in a B & B type accommodation or the modern Furneaux
Tavern at Lady Baron. Take a tour around the island and visit the great
bays/beaches like Trouser's Point and Killecrankie.
Maybe the fit might like to
climb Mt Strezleckie. The return flight to Moorabbin late afternoon on day two
completes the 2 day air tour.
2 days...........Melbourne to Mungo National Park:
This air tour is special as the flight takes you direct to Mungo , landing on the dirt airstrip and
staying right to the
lodge. Stay at Mungo for the day and take a half day drive through this amazing
remote landscape to view the China wall and the amazing sandstone landscape
especially around sunset. Dinner in the lodge then after breakfast next morning
fly 20 minutes to Mildura. Visit a winery for lunch on the banks of the Murray
river then a 1.5 hr flight back to Moorabbin arriving late afternoon

3 day air tours

3 days...........Melbourne to Mungo National Park - Whitecliffs Opal town
:
Fly direct to Mungo , landing on the dirt airstrip and taxi right to the
lodge. Stay at Mungo for the day and take a half day drive through this amazing
remote landscape to view the China wall and the amazing sandstone landscape
especially around sunset. Dinner in the lodge then after breakfast next morning
fly another 1.5 hrs to White Cliffs. This is an opal town. Visit "Mad Jock's"
underground home, tour the town and stay at PJ's Underground B&B. Dinner is at
PJ's and then a drink at the pub is on the cards. After breakfast, depart White Cliffs for Moorabbin stopping for lunch and a cruise on the Murray River at Echuca .
This completes the 3 day air tour.

3 days….........Melbourne to Kangaroo Island

Arriving at about 11am ,we drive to our accommodation near the south coast. Then
after lunch explore some of the sites of the island including seals, kangaroos,
Admiralty Arch and Remarkable Rocks. Enjoy the next day and a half at Kangaroo Island. This includes Admiralty
Arch, Remarkable Rocks and plenty of wildlife (seals, kangaroos in particular).
Then at after lunch we fly back to Moorabbin arriving around 6pm.

3 days................Melbourne to Birdsville Races:
This is one of the annual events that is popular. Departing Moorabbin on the
Friday morning we fly to WhiteCliffs opal town for lunch then after a tour of
"Mad jock's" underground home we fly another hour onto Noccundra Hotel. This is
a quaint "Cobb & Co" pub in the outback. Accommodation is at the pub in twin
share type rooms. On Saturday early after breakfast the flight to Birdsville is
about 1 hr. Arriving around 10 am we then put up tents at the aircraft and spend
the day at the races. On Sunday morning it is normal to fly down to Innamincka
on the Cooper Creek for a relaxing lunch at the Homestay and then return to
Moorabbin arriving around 6pm

3 days..........Melbourne to Arkaroola - Rawnsley Park - Melbourne
Depart Moorabbin at 7am., refuel at Broken Hill, then land at Balcanoona in
the northern Flinders Ranges. Drive through the rugged landscape to Arkaroola, a
scenic, isolated and very comfortable village. After a relaxed lunch in the
licensed restaurant, be exhilarated by the stunning Ridge Top Tour, the "most
spectacular mountain scenic tour in Australia". Narrow trails scramble over
breath-taking mountains and along razor back ridges, plummeting periodically
into deep cool valleys and gorges. Views extend across the mountains and 80kms
beyond Lake Frome to the horizon. The tour lasts approx. 4hrs. After dinner a
tour of the Flinders Ranges Astronomical Observatory is a fascinating and

In the morning take a short flight across to Leigh Creek for fuel and enjoy a
3 hour ground tour including a visit to "Talc Alf"….one of Australia's remaining
outback characters who carves out of Talc Rock. Then mid afternoon fly down to Rawnsley Park homestead on the western side of the Flinders Ranges. Landing
right on the property we book in and enjoy a drink around sunset before dining
in the authentic woolshed restaurant overlooking the Rawnsley Park Bluff.

The final day includes either a nature walk or a half day 4WD tour around the
Flinders Ranges (depending on preferences) then depart for Moorabbin arriving
around 6pm
